什麼是專注力不足過度活躍症(ADHD)?
What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)?

ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting the brain’s control of attention, behaviours and emotions. It is characterized by patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interfere with functioning and development. It is typically diagnosed in childhood or adolescence, around 50% of them may continue to have ADHD in adulthood

專注力不足過度活躍症(ADHD)是一種大腦神經發展障礙,影響注意力、行為和情緒的控制。其特徵是注意力不集中、多動和衝動的行為,影響日常功能如學習、工作及社交。ADHD通常在兒童或青少年時診斷,大概一半的患者症狀會持續到成年。

    • 注意力不集中,容易分心

    • 粗心大意  (功課、日常工作等等)

    • 難以開始工作

    • 無法堅持完成乏味或耗時的工作

    • 難以組織任務、活動和個人物品

    • 經常遺失物品

    • Difficulty focusing,  easily distracted

    • Frequent careless mistakes (homework, daily tasks, etc.)

    • Difficulty starting tasks

    • Unable to persist in completing tedious or time-consuming tasks

    • Difficulty organizing tasks, activities, and personal belongings

    • Difficulty following instructions

    • Procrastination and poor time management

    • Frequently losing items

    • Forgetful

    • 坐立不安

    • 離位

    • 充滿能量,不能安靜或安座

    • 在不恰當的地方(如商場)走來走去或攀爬

    •  經常說話、打斷或干擾他人說話

    • 容易發脾氣

    • 難以等待、排隊或輪候

    • 冒險行為,例如危險駕駛、打架、成人會過度消費
       

    • Restless

    • Frequently leave seat

    • Full of energy, unable to sit still or stay quiet when required

    • Walking around or climbing in inappropriate places (like shopping malls)

    • Frequently talking, interrupting, or interfering with others' conversations

    • Hot temper

    • Difficulty waiting, standing in line, or taking turns

    • Acting impulsively without considering consequences

    • Risky behaviors, such as dangerous driving, fighting, or excessive spending in adults)

問題可能是ADHD,也可能不是 —
全面的評估是理解及解決問題的關鍵

A thorough assessment is key to targeted intervention.

注意力和行為問題也不一定是ADHD,其他因素學包括心理、身體或環境原因引起。深入了解症狀及原因是適當和專注治療的關鍵以幫助學習及生活的各個方面茁壯成長。

Poor attention and behavioral problems can be due to other psychological, physical or environmental causes other than ADHD. A thorough understanding of the symptoms and related factors are key to appropriate and focused treatment to help the individual thrive in different aspects of his or her life

Evidence-based Treatment to improve functioning

早期識別ADHD幫助及早設定針對性的治療,如心理行為和藥物治療治,以減輕症狀,減少對參與適齡活動的影響,從而改善學業、工作、自信心、社交和情緒。

Recognizing ADHD enables timely intervention and development of tailored strategies such as therapy and medications to ameliorate symptoms and minimise impacts on participation in age-appropriate activities, together leading to better academic, occupational, self-esteem, social, and emotional outcomes.

教育規劃和支援

Education Planning and Support

正確的診斷有助於找到適合孩子需求的學習環境及針對ADHD學生的支援,如特殊教育需要(SEN)考試調適,讓ADHD學童盡量釋放學習潛能。

A proper diagnosis helps finding educational support appropriate to the needs of the child such as Special Education Needs (SEN) support and examination accommodations to allow children with ADHD to maximize their academic potential.

Prevention of Secondary Issues

早期干預可以幫助上與ADHD有關的問題例如焦慮、抑鬱、低自尊心、行為問題和成癮行為。

Early intervention can help reduce problems commonly occurring with ADHD including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, behavioural problems and addictive behaviours.

Early detection helps parents and teachers in comprehending  and managing the behaviors, which fosters more effective communication and support.

An early diagnosis provides families with guidance on parenting and communicate skills to enhance relationships between family members.

Assessment Details
  • 我們使用多方法評估,包括:

    1. 與照顧者(如家長)及被評估者進行面談,以全面了解症狀及其對學習、工作、自我照顧、社交關係和情緒的影響

    2. 用電腦客觀測試集中力

    3. 臨床觀察行為

    4. 行為量表以評估ADHD症狀及其他常與ADHD有關的行為和情緒問題


    照顧者及被評估者會分開見面作全面理解
     

    We use multi-method evaluation that includes:

    1. Interview with caregivers (e.g. parents, spouse) or the individual to comprehensively understand the symptoms and their on learning, work, self-care, social relationships and emotions of the individual

    2. Objective testing of attention level using digital technology

    3. Clinical observations of the behaviors of the individual

    4. Behavioral measures to evaluate symptoms of ADHD and other symptoms behavioural and emotional problems commonly co-occuring with ADHD


    Parents and child will be seen separately for gathering of different types of information

  • 大概2小時

    Typical Duration of Assessment: Approximately 2 hours

  • 由香港心理學會及香港臨床心理學家工會(香港衛生署認證)註冊的合資格臨床心理學家進行的專業評估。評估報告被香港教育局認受。

    Assessment conducted by qualified Clinical Psychologists registered under the Hong Kong Psychological Society and Hong Kong Institute of Clinical Psychologists (accredited by Department of Health, HKSAR). Reports are accepted by Education Bureau of Hong Kong

  • 兒童及青少年:家長或可靠的照顧者必須陪同孩子參與評估。應帶同相關資料或報告(如成績表、教師評語、醫療報告等)。

    成人: 帶同相關資料或報告(舊成績表、教師評語、工作表現評價,醫療報告等,如有)。熟悉被評估者的可靠照顧者(如伴侶)會對評估有幫助。

    Children and Adolescent: Parents or a reliable caregiver must accompany the child for the assessment. Relevant reports (academic report cards, teacher comments, medical reports, if any) should be presented

    Adults: Relevant reports (academic report cards, teacher comments, work performance comments, medical reports, if any) should be presented if available. A reliable caregiver who is familiar with the examinee will be helpful.

  • 通常報告會在評估內的兩週內準備好。一個30分鐘的面談解釋評估結果已包含在評估費用。心理學家將面對面或在線向家長或受測者解釋結果。實體報告亦已包含。

    Typically reports will be ready within 2 weeks after the assessment session. A 30-minute debriefing session is included. Our psychologist will explain the results to the parents or the tested individual face-to-face or online. A hard copy of the report is included.

  • 簡短報告: 包含基本評估數據、診斷和基本建議。

    詳細報告: 除了基本評估數據和診斷,詳細報告包括進一步評估學童於執行能力現有的困難及個別需要,作出給予家長及學校一系列改善學習、社交、自理及情緒管理的詳細建議。

    Summary Report: includes a summary of the key results, the diagnosis and a basic set of recommendations.

    Detailed Report: Includes an additional assessment of the student's current challenges and needs in executive functioning. A comprehensive recommendations to enhance learning, social relationships, self-care, and emotional management that can be used by parents and schools is included in the Detailed Report.
